For almost twenty years, I have contemplated a seemingly simple question: Why does a man need to marry? What is the purpose of a wife?

I have come to believe that a wife is neither a companion of convenience nor merely a partner in building a comfortable life. She is a focused soul who amplifies the man’s consciousness, and awakens his soul each passing day.

She brings peace, not to shelter him from reality, but to quiet the distractions that prevent him from seeing it. Her presence allows him to awaken from illusion, to see beyond the noise of everyday existence.

She amplifies his emotions without possessing them. She helps him experience life more intensely without hijacking his attention or becoming the object of his worship. She understands that his soul must remain free to pursue something greater than either of them.

She encourages him to eat the forbidden fruit, to embrace uncertainty, invoke chaos, question the familiar, and create new realities. She would rather see him wrestle with existence than surrender to apathy disguised as harmony, or numbness mistaken for gratitude.

She does not exist to make life easier, but to make it more alive.

A wife is not simply a friend, a lover, or family. She is a soulmate. Not someone who completes an incomplete man, but someone whose presence awakens possibilities within him that might otherwise remain dormant.

Perhaps that is what a match made in heaven truly means: two souls brought together, not to become one, but to help each other become more fully alive.

And perhaps the purpose of marriage is not to find someone with whom we can escape the world, but someone with whom we dare to confront it.
