The moment I awaken to the realization that I am a soul, not merely a body, I discover the deepest freedom of my existence: the freedom to choose my direction.
I may turn inward, enthrone myself, and declare: ‘I am God.’
I may turn toward the collective, dissolve myself into the whole, and proclaim: ‘We are God.’
Or I may turn Godward, beyond myself and beyond the multitude, toward the Father who transcends all creation, and humbly declare:
‘I am neither God nor a fragment of God. I am a son of God.’
For the soul’s greatest freedom is not in what it can become, but in whom it chooses to serve.
