Gateway Patterning: Projecting a Desired Pattern Into Reality

1 min · Adam G.

The Monroe Institute’s Gateway system introduces another model.

Within Gateway terminology, a practitioner may enter Focus 12, described as a state of expanded awareness. One of the techniques taught within this framework is called Patterning.

Patterning involves forming a clear representation of a desired future state while in expanded consciousness and projecting that pattern outward as though the objective has already been accomplished.

The theoretical model associated with the technique proposes something resembling:

individual consciousness → thought generated pattern → universal holographic reality → changed circumstances

This resembles Neville’s method operationally. Both techniques encourage the practitioner to establish a desired outcome internally as already accomplished.

But their proposed mechanisms are different. Neville emphasizes imagination and subconscious objectification. Gateway uses the language of expanded awareness and holographic interaction.

The essential metaphor also differs. Neville’s practitioner becomes the imagined state. Gateway’s practitioner projects a pattern.

In this sense, consciousness behaves almost like a transmitter. The practitioner sends information outward.

The Godward Way again reverses the direction. Gateway Patterning can be represented as:

consciousness → desired pattern → universe

The Godward Way is:

experience → consciousness → God

Gateway therefore asks: How can consciousness impress its preferred pattern upon reality?

The Godward Way asks: What should consciousness do with everything that arises within it?

The answer is not necessarily to project it outward. It is to offer it upward.
